I’m with you on the nukes, George.  Westinghouse Electric has been trying to do just that, but has been running into regulatory hurdles.

Wind farms in the ocean would be a tougher sell, because the enviro-weenies will claim that the wind farms pose a danger to aquatic birds and would disrupt the habitat of the hairy-chested nut scratcher.

The problem with solar is that to produce electricity in sufficient quantities to run a utility plant, you still need water (something that’s in very short supply in the desert) to generate steam to power the turbines.

I don't think it's as much about money as it is the ability to control the lives of others.  We've gone from the divine right of kings to the divine right of bureaucrats.
