If you are a party to or aware of some fraud or malfeasance regarding the recording, then you could be liable, but in most cases where we are simply walking a recording into the county and "filing" it, there should be no special liability.

In a similar sense, you are doing an intermediary service that has no bearing on how the legal papers were written up, how they were signed by the grantors, how they were acknowledged by the notary agent, or otherwise.

The people signing a contract are all responsible for the terms and conditions of the contract.  The notary is responsible for doing their bonded duty to bear witness to the finalization of the contract.  The County staff is responsible to ensure that the document meet the standards for acceptance.  You are the post office.  The route carrier is not liable for delivering a deed to the Recorders Office, nor is the UPS guy, so why should you be?
