I get tasks like that, usually from a client who wants me to help him make sure he's covered all the bases and that his instrument is recordable. In addition to any mistakes I might find, I also mention the lack of date, notary, etc. even though I know he knows to add these things. Lawyers expect me to CYA because they would.
But I have also gotten such tasks from people who just wanted to see how much I would overlook, either as a test of my abilities or as a prelude to slipping something past me.
My suggestion is to point out every flaw you can, even the obvious. If they object, say it's just a formality, or your E&O carrier requires it, or some such. But don't leave yourself open.
