That is a good point... and I'm hoping we see more regulation of lending that will make the whole process more simple. I agree that making the disclosures easier to read might be counter productive if the loans are still so complicated that a "more simple disclosure" can't adequately provide all of the information that is needed.
I think the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau has some pretty broad powers and we might actually see more substantive changes. At least that is what I'm hoping for.
I really like Elizabeth Warren and I think if anyone can do this, she can. Perhaps if the simple disclosures work, you won't really need more restrictions on the lending... they will voluntarily abandon their more shady practices because they won't be able to hide them.
I guess we will just have to wait and see... I hope this new Bureau is a success and it won't be another failed government program. Ultimately, the people need this to be a success... there really isn't anyone in Washington looking out for ordinary people these days.
