Busy in some sectors.

Fewer junk research projects in genealogy, as the "Do You Know Who You Are?" show is in hiatus pending the next season.  We get a lot of the "I want my ancestor back to Jesus and Moses"-sort of requests whenever the big tv shows are on.  Nice to see fewer of these and more reasonable research requests.

Also, lots of research in California due to last years' law changes regarding the Subdivision Map Act Amendment.  The early '40's amendment has long been misinterpreted and misapplied in some counties.  As a result of a recent lawsuit, the requirements for parcel verification have changed, causing more and more people to need research back to the original land subdivision.

Also, contemplated ordinance changes in some counties' unincorporated areas have made land research lucrative as people rush to get building permits in process prior to the county cutting off sewer or water access. 

Finally, while construction has been slow, the few projects out there that need title site inspections for priority, foundation and completion inspections is coming mostly to us, as nobody else seem active in the field to do this work.  Our digital cameras that we use to cut our copy costs at the Official Records, serve a great dual purpose when we need to have high resolution field work.

Another of our colleagues is very busy with mobile notary signings and doing very well with her business in that field.

Process service work is booming in these bad times, but since we only take corporate service cases, we've been a bit slow.  We prefer not to take the individual service cases due to the personal risk and time drain involved in attempting service multiple times on people who do not want to be found.
