There is a Supreme Court Opinion in South Carolina basically stating that an abstractor must work under the direct supervision of an attorney.  This is the reason that I never do work for anyone but an attorney.  I also have a disclaimer on my title summary specifically stating that this is not an opinion of title, but merely a statement as to matters found of record.
