Thank you for this post!  I posted my similar concerns a few weeks ago...I decided not to submit my application as well for the same reason.  I understand their legal department is standing firm on their requirement for background checks and identity verification; and likewise it is imperative that I, as an independent contractor, consider the extent of such risks and proceed with caution...I consider it God given wisdom.   To date I have not been approached by any company that demands the same....I would hate to think that they are trying to set the "new norm" for future vendor application requirements...what then would the result be for the independent abstractor trying to make a living?  I continue to be grateful for this website...a much appreciated resource!
