Unfortunately for us abstractors I think it has become common practice for many companies to do exactly what your client is doing. They do the work that they can do online and eliminate the role of the independent abstractor, thereby saving their company the cost of paying for a search.

In some states this has put the independent out of business, except for those searches that cannot be fully completed online or are too difficult.

The internet is a great thing but as more and more informaton is available online, I fear our job as searchers will be "phased out" alotgether.
