Interesting. In Connecticut when seeking judgment against an individual we are required to file a military affidavit to obtain a judgment where the defendant has been defaulted for failure to appear. If the facts disclose that the defendant is in the military and unable to appear because of a foreign assignment the court will stay the matter until the defendant is able to appear. The court is particularly vigilant of this during times of conflict involving the armed services.
