This thread has gotten a lot of attention on Linkedin. I would urge you both to join Linkedin, join this group, Title Insurance and Mortgage Process Optimization Group, and post your thoughts.
More and more of our business is being outsourced these days and it become increasingly difficult to stay competitive, despite the fact that these off-shore entities are making huge mistakes.
A recent response from Rusty to a post I made on this LInkedin site:
Charlene, there are many fantastic BPO facilities with many dedicated professionals. The ones that don't produce quality work will eventually fall by the wayside. Most national title agencies outsource as many as 20 processes to their BPO partners. It is not the wave of the future. It is here to stay. The younger generation in Bulgaria, for instance, have the second highest IQ in the world and will produce high quality products/technologies for about 30 percent of the cost of US. Russian outsourcing for technology is awesome. India has many fine companies as well. It depends what you are seeking.
REALLY!! Well there are many individual companies here in the US who employ very bright people, people who have actual access to the court files, the actual documents, and who understand what they are reading and whether or not that particular piece of paper actually affects the property.
As you might imagine, I could go on and on, but, if you are hell bent on outsourcing, you will find a way in which to justify the shoddy work and the damn near useless title policy that is the result of this work.
