I don't disagree with Robert, but there are a lot of basics that can be learned about how tract indices work, searching by Grantor-Grantee, and the Language of Title Searchers and Examiners that can really help. I learned title searching and examining from a third generation County Recorder in Minnesota, all with on-th-job training, and since then, I have searched titles from Connecticut to Hawaii, and there are a lot of similarities.
Robert is right, while every county/parish/borough varies somewhat, there are a lot of similarities, and I do believe that getting the basics from an experienced searcher has much value. Especioally for a newbie.
