Most likely you cannot file a mechanic's lien for a title search.  You would have to check your state's laws, but the only state that I am aware of that allows such a lien is New Mexico (assuming it is still good law there).  They had a law allowing for an "abstractor's lien." 

Of course, I don't know the laws in all of the states, but that one in New Mexico was the only one I have seen of that kind.
