Great post!  I recently had sirens go off here.  I headed to the bathroom, with my cell phone, cigs, and a lantern just in case the electricity went off.  It was too late to be drinking coffee.  You forgot the liquor though.  Seriously, I do have a survival kit in the trunk of my car, lots of water, a "snuggy", just in case I get in trouble somewhere on the road, or heaven forbid I have to haul butt.
