Charlene - Haven't done work in NY since 2000, but NY is where I cut my teeth in this business and did it there for many many years.  Even in upstate NY, everyone has an attorney representing them - title company is only there for the actual title end of it.  Also, in upstate NY, they are (or were) still passing updated actual abstracts.  Clinton County is Plattsburgh, so if you know any one up there, I would call them and ask who they have as clients that are attorneys.  If you don't know any one up there, e-mail me directly and I can give you the name of a friend who is in Saratoga Springs - he may be able to help you with finding an attorney up in Plattsburgh.
