They've gone to auto-generated prelims where mortgage brokers and real estate agents can plug in an address online and get a formated listing of all exceptions that they'll insure against. No more need for abstracting, examining, or other "overhead". Let the computer rule.
The bare standard of "insurable title" is not applied; just the new lowest ideal of "we'll insure this based on the accuracy of our database". The claim becomes a cost of business writeoff on the back end, and nothing is cured.
