1. I didn't even know this was a thing. How the heck is somebody in India going to do anything resembling a real search on property in the USA? And commercial property too? Metes & Bounds property? This is not an easy profession, and no two searches are the same. It just blows my mind.
2. What companies are doing this? Title companies, law firms, banks? If some title companies, don't the underwriters have some say about this practice?
I work for a small, local but well established title company that does in house searches for one county only, using our own title plant. Yes, things are very slow, but we're doing well. We have repeat customers and long established relationships in the community, and we provide a quality product/service and charge accordingly. Financially, we've never been in a better position. Granted, I'm sure that will be tested if this crappy economy continues for any length of time. I'm fairly new to the industry, so I'm sure my comments seem a little naive, but oh well. Just felt like chiming in.
