It's because every company is hoping to take advantage of the abstractor who is "slow."  Hoping we will give a better price than we usually do. I'm the first to admit that I've taken a few jobs I wouldn't normally take but I'm not going to lower my price and try to undercut people. My quality is the same, my report and my examining skills the same.  They can keep shopping. But that's why it's happening. 

I work for a company and he got so many quote requests for commercial he is now charging up to $50 per order to work them up 

 Great idea!! Love it.  It's not our fault it's this slow.  I'd rather work at Starbucks than do a commercial search for $120 bucks. :)
