I don't know why mortgage companies even do title searches if they're going to send them offshore.

They're worthless. 

Just drop title insurance totally if you're not going to make it insurable.

How do they collect any claims if a foreign entity is doing it? 

We've pretty much stuck ourselves with the same rates now for 30 years. Many of us feel we can't compete with other American companies if we raise our rates, much less foreign companies. 

One thing we could do statewise-

Don't allow access to ANY COMPANY or abstractor not in a state to online records. 

The state taxpayers paid for it. 

But the bottom line is, you get what you pay for, and if you're sending your titles to foreign countries you're getting nothing but a piece of paper.
