Thanks to everyone for their comments (so far) on this post.
Several folks said "it depends on what the client wants", and I agree with you in principle. However, I still think it's dangerous not to make sure your report agrees with your copies and vice versa.
Michelle of Advanced Background commented how crazy it is for an abstractor to refuse to include a requested report or copy. I agree! From a liability perspective alone it seems reckless to me, to say nothing of the customer service angle.
When I raise issues like this with an abstractor, a response I sometimes get is "none of my other clients complain". I don't really see how that's relevant or helpful.
