Someone named Ralph originally contacted me and really pushed to have the price driven down. He was nice and we had a good rapport though he admitted he'd been a former used car salesman and his haggling ways showed that
. Other than that, we had similar backgrounds and talked easily. I found nothing negative on SOT or Dog, asked how they pay and gave it a chance.
Later, once I said we'd give it a shot with them in NJ, I noticed the orders were coming from Nick Pugh who I'd done some work for previously. At the time he said he'd been referred by someone to us (not under the Vanguard name). I later learned he was with one of the big insurers prior to this. He had moved to OH and had opened (or took over) Vanguard. I'd done some searches for Nick before he was officially Vanguard and we were paid.
We had to restructure some pricing with Nick and he was amenable to it. They've paid us, no problems and Nick is a nice guy. He should be the person to contact for payment.
