Yeah that guy had a pretty good voice and delivery-- and from his comments it sounded like his regular job is in production, not as on-air talent. His questions were a lot more on-point than a lot of reporters I've seen... and more on point than the questions of some of the legislators, unfortunately.
I was amazed that the committee chair had not heard of MERS before the April Michigan appeals court ruling . He seemed like a decent enough guy and he sounded earnest in his questioning, but how in the heck can you be chair of the financial services committee in a state legislature in 2011 and not have heard of MERS??
Yes, they definitely need to hear from different voices, (like NAILTA!). Hultman avoided talking about the impact of the appeals court decision entirely in his opening statement, and then obfuscated when asked about the impact of the decision on title insurance issuance. He's paid to spin and he does, but it's really not his fault that the probing lines of questions weren't asked. A prepared questioner could force him to choke out a more realistic picture of the situation, I think.
