I agree. Even when I do one of those rare "historical"-only property reviews, it is the case that I still report all matters of title, regardless of whether they are released or not.
Document everything as it might come in handy if follow-up is requested by your client.
This means that I include open and paid mortgages and their releasing reconveyance papers in my reports, so that the report omits nothing and is comprehensive.
On historical projects, I will highlight in BLUE ink, the deeds, so that the historical society can easily identify those matters of importance to them.
