I make sure to put a note on the search that "we did not perform the original search, and ran records only from the date provided by the customer. We assume no liability for the accuracy of the original search". This has been ocurring more and more often lately, and I've assumed that the abstractor/title company that did the original search has closed their doors. I sure hope this isn't happening because the original searcher wasn't paid and refused to do the update, and I only do them for my loyal customers.
