In South Carolina, such a Deed is JTROS - Joint Tenancy with Rights of Survivorship, and the language reads that title is conveyed to "John Doe and Mary Doe (or whoever), as joint tenants with rights of survivorship, and not as tenants in common."  This really does spell it out.
