All of my current clients know that the fee for a current owner search includes a search that goes back 15 years and if it is more than that, there is a fee structure to cover it.  However, I always call the client from the Recorder's Office to advise when this happens.  They are usually OK with that procedure.  New clients requesting a fee quote are also told that a current owner price only goes back 15 years and there will be a fee increase if it is more than that.
