I wholeheartedly agree that any office should correct their indices and put a "date of change" in their records when they make any change. I've been trying to get this type of legislation enacted through OLTA or even within other Ohio counties without success for the past seven or so years.
If you want to see a good example of how an Ohio Recorder makes these within her records, log onto landaccess.com. Enter Ross Co. within the Ohio county listings. When you get to the names box, enter MONK GERTUDE. You should see the "date of change" and the correction of the spelling mistake to GERTRUDE. Now this is extremely helpful. Because of the Recorder's diligence in doing this within her records, I have no qualms about telling her or her staff about any errors I find within her records. I wish other Ohio counties -- let me correct myself and say ALL Ohio counties -- would use this same system.
