Good comments. I'm against corporate welfare too, when 2/3 of the American economy is driven by small businesses like all of us. Where the heck is our "too big to fail" bailout?
Yet,, as Slade pointed out in her recent blog on "Affiliate does not mean Independent", these corporations use us as their captive "butt monkeys" while moving their other operations overseas to create artificial savings. The title companies have cut up-front costs by firing employees, outsourcing to temp agencies domestically, moving other operations to third world sweat shops, automating (poorly) other functions, and enriching their executives with lucrative bonuses and golden parachutes.
Why can't we do this in our small businesses? Answer: because we have integrity and operate by BEST Standards, and not just minimal legal requirements (if that).
Yes, let us continue to help our fellow man. Eventually....eventually, our good deeds will be seen... and probably punished, but we can hope for better....
