Not sure it's meaningless to exercise a Right, but it is a bit less weighty when you wait until your property is taken (whether your job is sent overseas or your home is foreclosed upon or both). You should have acted responsibly and held your elected officials to account for their actions much earlier, but that would have meant taking the time to educate yourself and understand the issues which few of the zombies occupying Wall Street can do.
They could start a recall election, gather signatures to put propositions on the ballot, write en masse to their representatives, and move their money to local institutions. Few are doing these things. So, their reactionary response to issues that they should have addressed decades ago, garners little sympathy from me.
They've chosen to exercise a right of free speech through protest over the harder task of exercising a right to free enterprise by starting and running a business. Their privilege of welfare and the social doles is more important than stepping up and finding an honest way to provide for their families. Working class people are the heroes. They are not the 99%, but rather the zeroes.
