As a VM for Old Republic Title here in Ohio, there are only a few states that we actually have difficulties finding examiners. One of them being West Virginia--I don't think it's mostly related to natural gas drilling, but instead due to the debate in that particular state over independent examiners and attorney certifications. Some people say the examiner has to be employed by an attorney to get the certification, others say they don't have to. The law says "supervised" by an attorney, so that leaves some gray area. I know the Marcellus Shale is big in that area, but most of the people that we find only do residential and not commercial.
