Wow, Jodi, so they really think that they can do this to multiple abstractors and that we won't eventually speak to each other and get the word out? I know that when they first started calling me, another abstractor in my area was doing their work. I had called her and told her they were calling me and told her I wouldn't accept the work if it was a problem for her (I don't want anyone to think I am a work stealer). She quickly said that she was too busy to maintain their strict TAT, so she was happy to pass them off to me. Now I wonder if it was because they weren't paying her...........
Just curious, did you also request/demand 30 day payment or are they stiffing you on the regular pay schedule?
There is only one client that I accept the "we pay when we close the loan" payment schedule, and that is a local attorneys office that has never been more than 30 days paying me. I don't prefer that, because it creates scattered checks here and there rather than one lump sum every so often, but because they are reputable and because they have never stiffed me, I don't mind.
