[-] Helping out a fellow abstractor - Rebecca Cowart/MS (2 replies)

Just this past week I was informed by one of my clients that an abstractor who handles his work in a more northern area of my state has recently gotten a grim diagnosis for her son who has cancer.  He found this out because he had sent her a couple of orders and didn't get a confirmation, so he eventually called the court house to contact her and was informed by another abstractor in there of what was going on.

My purpose for writing this, outside of the obvious which is to please include her family in your prayers, is to say what pride I have of my fellow Mississippi abstractors at this point.  The first abstractor that my client spoke to, who informed him of the medical issues, has volunteered to perform her searches from this particular client......but he requested that all pay still go to the mother of the sick child.  So my client and I discussed how maybe more abstractors would follow that example and also help out in some way. (I requested that this client keep a certain percentage of each and every search I perform for him and forward it to her.)  A mass email was sent out to all of his Mississippi abstractors, and I am proud to say that we have had an enormous response of people donating portions of their pay to help this family.   Some have donated pay for one out of every 5 searches, some have donated percentages, and one very generous abstractor has donated all of her pay from this client for the remainder of this year!

Thank you, all Mississippi abstractors, for being kind and caring and understanding of what this family is going through.  Expenses of having a sick child go far beyond medical bills - loss of wages, staying in a hotel near the hospital, travel expenses, food while traveling, etc.

If anyone, in any other state, would like to do something to help this family out while they endure this horrible, horrible situation, send me an email and I will provide you with her mailing address.  I am working on getting some bank information so that donations can be sent directly to her bank and give people a little more reassurance that it is going to the right purpose.

Most importantly, however, please keep this young boy in your prayers.
