I agree that in this case, the guy merited a banning a couple posts before we got to it.  However, understand that neither Robert nor I monitor every message on this board as it is posted-- we just don't have the time or the inclination to moderate the board on that level, just to deal with the (fortunately) rare trolls that crop up.  So, we might not notice a guy like this right away.  As soon as I saw the guy's insults, I mentioned it to Robert, we agreed that the guy was far over the line, and I took steps to ban him. 

The bottom line is, we don't like to ban people but we're not going to tolerate repeated name-calling and insults.  If this guy shows up again, he'll be gone again.   If we seem not to have noticed an abusive user, send us a message and we will look into it.
