Over The Top? - Scott Perry/PA

You wanna know what's just plain nuts?  These remarks made by President Obama's hand-picked EPA Region VI Administrator:

“I was in a meeting once and I gave an analogy to my staff about my philosophy of enforcement, and I think it was probably a little crude and maybe not appropriate for the meeting, but I’ll go ahead and tell you what I said:

“It was kind of like how the Romans used to, you know, conquer villages in the Mediterranean.  They’d go in to a little Turkish town somewhere, they’d find the first five guys they saw and they’d crucify them.

“Then, you know, that town was really easy to manage for the next few years.”

“It’s a deterrent factor,”

--EPA Region VI Administrator Al Armendariz on how he intends to “make examples” of oil & gas operators.

I don’t know about you, but I for one consider those remarks “over the top” coming from someone who has the full weight and power of a federal bureaucracy to back him up.  Prosecuting a gas drilling operator based on a fraud perpetrated by some activist is over the top.  Regulating refineries out of business when gasoline is $4-$5 a gallon is over the top.  I have a disdain for power-hungry bureaucracy masquerading as good government policy.

What's really frightening is that it doesn't seem to concern you.

Regards,
Scott Perry
