I agree with your priorities completely! Please keep in mind, I'm speaking from my own experiences, in a state with different abstracting requirements....and other than on mineral searches that I don't do anymore, I can't afford to spend more than an hour researching one file. I could not afford to remain in business doing searches that require as much time as yours and still type them! I agree with Mr. Willard in this case when he said he has refused business that requires this. Change can be intimidating, no matter what form it takes. It appears you'll have to face some changes regardless: either letting go of one client (to hopefully make room for another less stringent), or change your volume, or change your searches. Regardless, keeping your priorities in order WILL be your anchor. You sound like you have your head on straight and are a hard worker. You also sound TIRED! Take some time to sleep ALL day one Saturday soon, bribe the kids to leave you alone, whatever it takes to get some YOU TIME!!
