But the original post stated, that a mortgage had been missed because of the name on the mortgage. So my point was, and this is where I may be totally off base. But in MN, we title search by legal description. Then do a name search for judgements, ect. Because people can own multiple parcels of land, I do not understand why a name search would be the way to search for a specific parcel of land. Also, by searching the legal description first, it's possible to find where loans, judgments or liens are on a parcel of land, but not neccessarily against the 'apparant' owner.
