I guess as long as they aren't publishing any official statement or list, it is simply a matter of "discussion" between the abstractors/searchers.
I can certainly understand the reasoning behind it, since there are unscrupulous businesses out there that will milk a searcher, examiner or closer for as much "free" business as possible by using their services, not paying them and then finding someone else who does not know they don't pay.
Overall, I think most independent service providers ARE scrupulous and honest enough to add only the real "no pays" to the list.
I've had past clients be slow to pay, no problem, we'll work it out with them.
But I have also had clients who REFUSED to pay, citing simply they didn't have the money. All the while, they kept large "in-house" staff that got paid bi-weekly. Why is it ok to think you don't have to pay me simply because I am not sitting at a desk in your office??
And, it's always THOSE clients who think YOU are the bad guy when you tell them, get current or we have to stop services.
I actually had a former client tell me I was trying to "black-mail" him into paying me. What the heck?
Black-mail = pay your bills????
You have to look at both sides of the coin, I guess. And afterall, you have people here on Source of Title posting all the time about no-slow pay companies. What's the difference?
