Honestly, who's business is it anyway.
If the first poster had an agreement with the company she was working for that she be paid on a monthly basis & they went 30 days beyond that then they were in the wrong & she had a legitimate right to be concerned.
I've been in this business since 1975 & have a unique arrangement with each client as to payment. Some pay monthly, some when it closes; some every two weeks & some, when I pick up the phone & remind them to pay me. I know, from experience, that there are no hard & fast rules as to collecting what's due. It's whatever I can work out with each company. When clients decide for whatever reason, that they don't have to/don't want to/can't afford to pay me & I cannot get them to agree to a payment plan, then it's up to me & nobody but me, to decide what to do next. Sometimes that means posting on SOT on Abstractor Watchdog. I can vouch for the fact that posting here generally gets an immediate response from whoever is running the show at the company that isn't paying me & that, fortunately for me, as a result of posting here, I have been paid pretty expeditiously.
