We have people who aren't overseas charging those kinds of prices in my area. The average price of current owner searches has declined 50% since the 1990s. This is one industry where experience doesn't pay unless you are willing to do complicated, time consuming work. I just had a national client I've worked with for over 18 yrs ask me if I was willing to drop my already too low price for current owner searches to $33 because the 2nd person on their list was cheaper than me. Needless to say I was really pissed. I told them I would not lower my fees because they were already too low and if they would rather send it to someone else to go for it. I asked the rep if my years of experience and my 18 year track record with their company meant nothing. After I pushed the rep, she backed down. This company also won't let me deactivate for a week so I can go on a real vacation because they told me it wouldn't be fair to whoever gets the work while I am out of town to only have it taken away from them when I get back. So basically, I am "On-call" when I take some time off.  Funny thing is, I am able to see what they charge to clients and they have only raised their prices over the years where they have continually hammered my on my pricing. 

There are a few other companies the send out automated emails stating my fee for doing a specific task was undercut by someone else. AFX is one of those companies. I never really had too many eggs in that basket so it didn't hurt losing the work. Seeing what people are willing to some of this stuff for amazes me.
