[-] Need Some Input! - Michaela Urban/OH (17 replies)

I have a seemingly stable client who sends me a good amount of work, no payment problems, etc.  Today in a phone call checking status on a search, it was brought up that they are going to mandate all title searches to be typed into their website "very soon."  I  had casually heard this a while back and then nothing was really said, but this phone call implied I was going to HAVE to do this NOW.  I was immediately put off, and told her if that was mandated it was going to cost a lot more for me to do their work.

I have sat and thought about this all evening, and the truth is I do title searches - not data entry.  I'm sure that by implementing this policy it will eliminate some jobs down the line and throw the liability my way.  How would you respond?  Would you do this if you were paid more money?  What would you charge to do a search, and then type it into a website?  Is this the future of title searching?  Not to mention the insurance to cover the added liability - its just not what I wanted to hear after a long thankless day of work and driving.  I don't live in India.  I actually go to my counties.  I'm a little appalled.  Or am I overreacting?

Thank you for any input :)
