Maybe I'm wrong, but I think this can be a big problem. I just had one where the borrower owned lot 3, both of their mortgages incorrectly said lot 4. It's going to foreclosure relying on the description from the mortgage (incorrectly stating lot 4) Why wasnt a corrected mortgage recorded to correct the description? Because everyone dealing with foreclosures is just too busy, robo-closing. Last I heard the owner of the true lot 4 has hired a lawyer in fear of the sheriff showing up at their front door with an eviction notice. Wouldn't be the first time the wrong house was taken.
