So there's a present interest & a future interest involved. It's still Alan's house in terms of him living there; & Carla & Betty will acquire it as t/c after his death even though they're taking legal title now. I'm not entirely sure that a conveyance of a life estate to a family trust is possible - given that the point of a life estate/remainder deed is to enable someone to live in their homes, & work around the Medicaid requirements. Is Alan the beneficiary of the trust?
