Only recently re-entered title abstracting after a 5 year absence. I was amazed at how badly things have deteriorated.  Someone approached me today with a sign up package. They only offered $50.00 for a current owner search and $95.00 for a full search of 40 years. Copy of the deed should be included in the fee...not in addition thereto. They do not pay travel fees for counties routinely searched by abstractors. They portrayed this arrangement to be routine for them. I can't imagine abstractors giving in to this. I graciously declined their offer.
