Seems like a very odd proposal.  Has anyone thought where money to replace the property tax would come from?  It doesn't sound like it.  Though I can understand and appreciate that taxes have gotten so high as to threaten something as basic as a place to live, property taxes raise a lot of revenue for local governments and schools.

It seems to me that without property taxes, income tax, sales tax, or other "fees" would go up considerably.  I doubt it would actually save anyone money, just change where and how it is paid.
