Looks like just another right wing conspiracy theory to me.  Apparently, several other states have been passing similar bills regarding this supposed socialist encroachment by the UN into the freedoms of Americans.  But in none of the articles I read was there a single real world example of any such encroachment in these states-- and apparently, this UN has been forcing socialism on us since the early 1980s!  Who knew?

This Alabama legislature, by the way, is the same one that just passed an immigration bill that lets authorities detain a person for 48 hours while authorities determine their immigration status, whether they have broken a law or not.  I'm not so sure that the innocent people who spend nights in jail because of this will feel like their freedoms are being protected by the Alabama legislature.
