The old school skyscrapers with spires like the Empire State building (and our version here in Columbus, the Leveque Lincoln tower) look cool, but the buildings with the flat tops and helipads on top are a little more practical for entrance and exit from the top than dirgibile moorings. I am sure some Wall Street muckety mucks make their commute via helicopters to helipads on the top of skyscrapers. (Not Bernie Madoff though-- he commuted by seaplane!) The flat tops have saved some lives-- they rescued people off the roof by helicopter in the MGM fire in Las Vegas, for example. However, the helicopter pads on top of both World Trade Center buildings were not used in 9/11-- too much smoke etc..
