We have been unable to get any traction on this issue with the La Real Estate Commission or the Louisiana Attorney General's office. It is illegal in Louisiana to file a lien for a commission on a residential transaction, and that is exactly what is being done.  The broker files a mortgage, which is a valid lien for a minimum of ten (10) years.  Glad to see some states see consumer protection in this area as an important matter.
