There appear to be several problems with Reverse Mortgages. The borrowers are not consulting an attorney. If, in the situation of the widow, they had consulted an attorney, they should have been advised that unless the Mortgage is in both names (probably calling for him to convey a 1/2 undivided interest to her) and she could not pay off the mortgage upon his death, she would lose the home. I feel the regulations need to be changed so that this situation will not occur, protecting the widow or widower.
