I received a different email a few months ago - any search $20.00 - any county.  I asked what they do in counties that have only partial records online.  They said that abstractors who are phyically in those counties can get them copies, etc.  Hmmm... either he was lying OR ... we are doing this to ourselves - either knowingly or unwittingly.  What abstractors in the US are getting copies for overseas companies?  And what if the copy costs exceed $20.00?

How do these companies trust the title reports they are getting from overseas abstractors?  THIS (and completely inexperienced independents) are the reason our E&O has gone through the roof.

I'm going to put in a note to the Clerk in Loudoun Co, VA ... when they went online, he specifically stated (required ALL of us) to meet with him personally.  YET - these overseas companies are able to search online.  Does that mean that US abstractors are partnering with these overseas companies?  Setting them up with user names and passwords?

There is NO reason any county/state in the US should have their records online for free - that is a huge security issue.  Don't know of any other country that would do this....
