Robert, I don't understand why anyone would go as low as $6.00, for any type of search. What with the cost of gasoline and the trouble of searching for the said document. Most of the clients that contact me barely give me a name or just a address that here in Texas may just be a 911 address since I usually work in rural counties. The minimum that I charge was $50.00, and then I only go back one owner prior to the name they give me. For a search going back 65 years I would go no lower than $150.00. How can anyone survive on a search of $6.00? I worked for 9 years as a Title Examiner for a title insurance company and 6 years as a Landman. I would not even consider such low fees since most of the counties I work in are a minimum of 35 to 40 minutes from my home. But in answer to you last question there are a lot of companies that expect that. I don't trust online searches because of the number of mistakes that have been made in at least 15 counties I had worked in as a Landman.
