Thanks for that, F. Lee.  If adoption is not feasible, there are many no-kill shelters that will also accept monetary gifts, as well as donations of pet food, towels and blankets.  Folks might also consider volunteering at their local animal shelter, as many do not have the financial resources to employ full-time staff.
